The Leap Crew started in Melbourne in 2020 when Founder, Kim Sullivan, realised that people were desperate for help with editing and proofing their CVs, resumes and job applications.
In a previous corporate role, she was responsible for staff recruitment and had to review, shortlist, interview and hire graduates and experienced staff – the ‘no’ pile was always quickly filled with poorly formatted, generic CVs and cover letters that were peppered with typos. There might have been a star employee in that pile, but they didn’t give themselves a chance of standing out.
Beginning as a side hustle, Kim knew she didn’t want The Leap Crew to just be a CV and cover letter writing or proofreading service – there are plenty out there and there is work to go around. What was missing in the market was a personalised, evidence-based career coaching service covering the full job search journey, particularly for people new to finding a job (like university graduates), those who have been out of work for some time (like parents who have been raising children) or those who want to make a career change.
Kim takes a strengths-based approach with her clients, and is heavily influenced by the fields of positive psychology and employee engagement.
Kim is also a social researcher by day, and a behavioural science junkie. She takes the latest findings from behavioural science and distils them into practical and proven tools and techniques for her clients. She’s used and refined these same tools and techniques in her own career to secure large pay increases, coffee chats with potential employers, job interviews and great job offers.
